Sunbear Farran-Five Tele Set

Alex Farran’s playing never ceases to amaze, regardless of what he’s using—but it’s fair to say he’s perhaps most at home on his long-standing blackguard Tele. Several sets were tested to narrow down the ideal direction for his needs and preferences. Once Stuart had a clear picture, he wound and sent a set marked “Farran-Five.”

Alex’s first impressions were everything Stuart could have hoped for, but time was needed for proper testing in real-world playing situations. Eventually, the final word came through:
“Stu!.. reckon these pickups are perfect.. can’t pick any possible faults or improvements out at all!”

With that, Stuart proudly offers the Farran-Five Alex Farran Signature Telecaster Set. Clear, deeply responsive, and slightly mid-scooped with extreme touch sensitivity.

Bridge (Alnico V, ±6.9k): Using a copper-plated steel baseplate, this pickup blends early-to-mid-’60s winding and magnet approaches. It delivers bright, biting twang without harsh upper mids, offering a musical balance between top and bottom end. Exceptionally responsive to dynamics and articulation.

Neck (Alnico V, ±5.3k): A great Tele neck pickup with subtle hints of Strat character—without losing its unique voice. Lower midrange hollowness enhances clarity, while the thin, pure nickel cover keeps muddiness at bay. Sweet, defined, and versatile across playing styles.
